1895 Obituary Thomas Lavill; Text
12 Apr 1895 We regret to announce the death of Mr. Thomas Lavill, who died Good Friday evening, April 12th. Mr. Lavill wjth his wife came to this country from Ireland in 1855 and resided in Belleville until about 20 years ago, when he moved to Trenton where he he has made many friends who regret his death. He leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his loss - four sons & three daughters Charles Thomas Ellen, Mrs. P J Shannon of Trenton Mrs. M Houlihan of Belleville, Dennis and Pat of Minneapolis His funeral which was largely attended, left the Family residence at 2 o'clock on Sunday for St. Peter in Chains Church for service, thence to the R.C. cemetery for interment. AMong the chief mourners was Mrs. John Lavill , of Kemptville, Ont., daughter-in-law of the deceased. Everything was done to restore him to health, but it was of no avail. We learn that his last hours were quiet and peaceful and that he died "Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him. And lies down to peaceful to peaceful dreams."
